Cultural heritage and historic buildings are important reminders of our history.
Fires in historical buildings and cultural heritage such as churches, museums, art galleries, libraries etc. are catastrophic and can cause serious damage to the building but also loss of irreplaceable historical artifacts and collections.
The threat of fire in older heritage buildings is constant as these buildings are often built with wooden framing throughout the entire structure, and the generous use of wood, which has dried out over the years, together with old electrical circuits, and combustible interior makes them highly susceptible to fire.
Historic buildings need fire protection that will not damage the vulnerable structure while at the same time preserve the building’s characters and features.
