Dayco is a leader in the research, design, manufacturing, and distribution of a broad range of belts, tensioners, and pulleys for the automotive, trucking, construction, agricultural and industrial markets.
Having a machinery space in one of their Italian plant facilities of almost 3500 m³ (9 m high) which needed fire protection, not many approved solutions were available. The FM Approved up to 4610 m³ (12 m high) FIREKILL™ K6 was however a perfect match for the project.

Why was a VID FIREKILL solution chosen?
• The Model K6 FM approval specifics, in regard to height and volume, are by far the largest approved by FM, matching the dimensions of the project.
• Compared to waterspray/sprinkler solutions, the VID FIREKILL solution offers extensive water saving (more than 80%).
• No damage of the electrical and mechanical equipment in case of activations.

Some specifics
56 nozzles were designed to protect the 437 m² (7-9 m high) large machinery area. In case of fire, water would be transferred to all nozzles flooding the machinery area with watermist with a flux density of around 0.25 lpm/m³ or floor density of around 1.99 lpm/m².
